Children
and COVID-19 ~ Summer from the safety of home
In healthcare, misinformation can be as deadly as the most
serious disease – and spread just as quickly. On May 8th Governor Andrew Cuomo
of New York reported that the original perception that COVID-19 did NOT
affect children was incorrect. There
is now evidence that it has caused severe illness in children with symptoms
similar to Kawasaki disease and toxic shock-like syndromes, with recent deaths
reported and others being investigated. This has been corroborated by Dr.
Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
(NIAID), Dr. Robert Redfield of the United States Centers For Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC), as well as the heads of other reporting agencies. Talk to your child’s doctor to get the
facts about COVID-19.
Safer At Home remains the official guidance for your children’s welfare. Although this
is not the summer to socialize face to face, it is more important than
ever to create opportunities for children to feel normal, to do things that
help make them feel happy, provide them with healthy outlets, and to socialize
online with other children in a safe, well-structured environment. To fill
this gap, camps like Performing Arts Workshops have pivoted from in-person to
online programs and are also offering financial aid packages to families
experiencing hardships.
At
Performing Arts Workshops for example, the PAW Team has created a Sibling 2 for 1 Tuition for kids who
will take camp together, sharing one device. PAW also offers an Ambassador
Scholarship Program in addition to other special discounts and Free Day Passes to help parents maximize
their savings even more!
A MESSAGE FROM PAW:
“All of us at PAW are
committed to delivering your family our mission of ensuring that all
school-aged children are provided the opportunity to experience the life
affirming benefits of an affordable arts education. We are offering 8 one week sessions beginning June
15th through August 7th. Many of your favorite PAW
teachers will be here with us via Zoom teaching curriculum from eight of our
student’s all-time favorite musicals. Each session is Monday thru Friday and
you can choose from our “Partial Day” of one workshop per day, “Half Day” of
two workshops per day or even our “Full Day” with three workshops per day. PAW
has created a schedule where kids will log on and off providing time for
snacks, rest periods, lunch and restroom breaks. We are including group
Chit-Chat sessions and End Of Day Hurrays which will inspire each child,
leaving them feeling happier and more connected every day that they
participate. The way we spend time with friends and family, birthday
celebrations, and holidays have become virtual…and so will PAW!”
Trusted
for over 30 years, PAW’s award-winning camps for kids ages 5-14 are going
online this summer! PAW’s Virtual Summer Camp will include workshops in Acting,
