PAW: The One-Stop Shop for Specialty Camps!

Check out PAW’s award-winning arts camps
and get excited for summer!

At Performing Arts Workshops, we provide a one-stop shop for families interested in a variety of performing arts programs. If you have one child that is passionate for performing on stage, you can book out their entire summer by mixing and matching Musical Theater sessions with Camp LOL and Guitar! If you have multiple children with completely different interests, but would love a single drop-off in the morning and a single pick-up in the afternoon, we have lots of options for you to mix and match a summer that makes everyone happy, whether they love being on stage, being behind the scenes, creating visual art, or even writing and being creative. Whatever the situation, here at PAW you can mix-and-match 9 different camp activities to learn something new every week of the summer. Take a look at each of the amazing summer programs we offer and choose the ones that ignite the creative spark for your children!

Musical Theater Camp:

Step into the spotlight and come shine on stage! If you’ve been “bit by the acting bug,” come join us for an exciting adventure in theater! Winner of 2010’s BEST Children’s Live Theater and BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine, PAW’s Musical Theater summer camp is a creative, safe haven where kids ages 5 – 14 can learn the craft of acting.

Guitar Camp:

Do you have rock and roll dreams? Here’s your chance to learn how to play the acoustic guitar! Whether you’ve never picked up a guitar or if you already have mad skills, our guitar camp is the ideal setting for beginning to advanced students. Guitar camp is for students ages 7-14, and students must provide their own acoustic guitars!

Filmmaking Camp:

Do you have a story that needs to be told? Do you see stories as moving pictures? If so, then PAW’s Script to Screen Filmmaking Summer Camp, for kids ages 8 – 15, is the place for you! At Script to Screen Camp, young playwrights and filmmakers will work as a team to write, direct, film, act in and edit their own original music video, TV pilot, movie trailer or short movie! Each of our budding auteurs will get their own a copy of their short film which will have its premiere screening during the first act presentation of PAW’s Musical Theater Camp!

Rock the Mic Vocal Recording Camp:

Experience the joys of singing and discover the recording artist in you! Produce a Demo Flash Drive while learning proper singing technique, breath control, projection, song interpretation and more! This camp is open to kids ages 8 – 15 and is for beginning to advanced singers alike. While our students will be schooled on the fundamentals of proper singing technique, the true focus of Rock the Mic Camp will be on the art and science that is voice recording.

Magic Camp:

Magic is theatrical high art. At PAW’s Magic Camp (for ages 8-14), kids are given the chance to peek behind the curtain, peer into the top hat and explore the wonder and majesty that is magic! The mastery of magic offers its practitioners a number of benefits, including the development of confidence and self-esteem, hand-eye coordination, critical thinking, multitasking thoughts & actions, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, making friends and so much more!

Photography Camp:

Learn how to make pictures, not just take them! With just a camera and a computer, the world is your digital darkroom! Learn the art of capturing faces, places and moments in time with a SNAP and share the joy with your friends and family! Be the master of your social media world; learn how at PAW’s Photography Summer Camp.

Stage F/X Makeup:

Let your imagination run wild as you explore the science and artistry that is stage and movie makeup! Cosmetics will be your paint and the human form will be your canvas as you let your creativity take flight! Each one-week session of camp (for ages 8 – 15) is a fun, hands-on exploration into the world of stage and movie makeup. Nourishing the imagination, collaborating with others, critical thinking, knowledge of art, science and history, development of problem solving and fine motor skills are just some of the benefits our students get from learning about makeup and special effects. But most importantly, it’s FUN! So come join the adventure at PAW’s Stage F/X Makeup Camp. Your canvas and palette await!

Debate Camp:

Utilizing the Project LEAD curriculum, PAW’s Debate Camp will give students the tools for developing self-confidence, public speaking skills, building a powerful vocabulary, and learning the finer points of language arts. Some of the many learning outcomes students will take away from Debate Camp include: further developing critical thinking skills, learning how to discern and adjudicate multiple sides of any topic, organizing and articulating ideas, developing listening skills, and learning how to debate without arguing in a fun, safe, and non-competitive environment. In PAW’s Debate Camp, learning debate and language arts gives students the tools with which to develop empathy, constructive dialogue, civic-mindedness, deal with peer-pressure, and engenders in young people a deep and abiding appreciation for words and ideas.

LOL Comedy Camp:

PAW’s Camp LOL is the place for aspiring young comics to hone their skills and learn the finer points of the comedian’s craft. Camp LOL is designed for novices and experienced performers alike. Students will be guided by skilled, nurturing instructors who will help them build a strong foundation on which to develop their talents. There’s more to the comic’s craft than just fun and jokes. The mastery of stand-up comedy offers a number of benefits, including building self-confidence and esteem, critical thinking, developing language and oratory skills, improvisational thinking, making friends and more.

The diverse array of performing arts opportunities that we provide our campers sets PAW apart from other performing arts summer camps.
